  4. This IRC BOT started life as Hop-Bot for UNIX systems.
  5.  
  6. Modify the sources as you wish to create your own bot since in it's current
  7. state it is hardly packed full of features (infact, it is seriously lacking 
  8. in features of any kind).
  9.  
  10. To compile you will need !NetLib by Andy Mell available from the Acorn
  11. freenet site (at time of writing this is ftp.dsse.ecs.soton.ac.uk).

  13. It would be nice if any bots you create, be they for channel protection, 
  14. leisure or war could be made publicly available (even if just in executable
  15. absolute form), perhaps even uploaded to the DeadelviS FTP site.
  16.  
  17. I'm now playing with Eggdrop bots and don't spend much time with ROBOT so
  18. don't expect to see this bot being developed very much by myself.

  20. Ideas for further development:
  21.  
  22.     * Interface with a wimp front end
  23.     * Textfile configuration files rather than altering sources
  24.     * Game/leisure features (Blackjack etc)
  25.     * Channel protection (flood detection/ignore/ban etc)
  26.     
  27. The code is probably quite shakey (reads very) and sometimes causes the
  28. machine to slow considerably. Feel free to fix these problems :-)
  29.  
  30. At present the best way to run this bot is in a taskwindow (use the 
  31. 'RunROBOT' taskobey file) however ideally it would run unobtrusively in the
  32. background like a UNIX bot.
